Where do you run to when life presents you with ugly challenges? Our greatest defence is in the name of the Lord. It’s our strong tower.
When you try with your own strength, you will fail in the long run but when we run to the tower, safety is always assured.
Judges 9:51-54
In the ancient days, when the old met troubles, they run to their towers but in our day, we run to the name of the lord
Towers built by man are referred to as sinking sand by God
This name has all the powers to combat everything the devil tries to attack us with
WHY DO WE CALL ON THE NAME OF OF THE LORD
- Refuge
- Edifying protection
- Strong against storms against us
- It protects us against harm and harassment – 1 Samuel 17:45
When Paul was in the prison, his people prayed to the name of the Lord and he was saved
The Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
Run is faster than walking. In times if trouble don’t walk simply run to God and stay in the tower (the name of the Lord)
It’s only the name of the lord that can take you through
HOW TO CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD EFFECTIVELY
Live a righteous life
Hebrews 12:1-4 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
God works in His own time, stay wait, believe that one day what you are going through will be over. If you rush out of the tower, the cares and sways of this world will hit you

- Pastors
- Mallams
- Their personal beauty
- Riches and wealth – Job 31:24
- Strength
- Qualifications in life
All these will leave you with grief and sorrow. When you feel unprotected, just call in the name of the Lord. He will also take care if our daily needs. He gives us comfort this world can’t give to us
His name is sufficient for us because there is nothing too hard for Him. Inside the tower (name of God) is power and safety
